2018
There is a difference between being a winner and a champion. There is a difference in doing the right thing all the time when no one is watching. Character and integrity are the hall marks that make the difference between winning, being a champion, losing, and falling short of your desired goals. A successful coach must first be a successful teacher. The teaching comes from off the court as much as it comes from on the court. Players and parent’s don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Basketball and life go hand in hand as they give you the test first and the lesson second. Providing an opportunity for young men to be exposed in front of college coaches while they chase that dream to play at the next level is what this program is all about. However, there is more to this program than just getting a young man a scholarship. This program teaches basketball and life. This program will provide accountability and ownership of decisions made on and off the court while mandating mental toughness and discipline.
As stated, this program is not for every player or parent. However, this program is arguably the best at preparing high school players to understand the high level of demands of college basketball. The higher the level - the greater the demand. College coaches wont coddle you or refrain from hurting your feelings. Another way this program is different than other programs is that your talent level will not be embellished to appease a player or parent. Credibility is integrity in recruiting.
More importantly, I sincerely thank all the young man that believed in me as their coach. This program has been blessed to have had a lot of talent as evident by the programs success and the high number of players that have been blessed to continue on to the next level. In the last 7 years since the program inception in 2011 this program has been ranked in the top 20 nationally, won a Ky AAU State championship, finished in the Final 4 of a National AAU Super Showcase, and has won countless number of tournaments. This program was blessed to have played a major role in assisting over 60 young men in accomplishing their dreams of playing college basketball and more importantly turning them from boys into men.
In closing, being a champion equals embracing and enduring adversity, challenges, tough love, discipline, accountability. These are attributes that champions in life will always possess.
